Preparing For A Glass Shower

Preparing For A Glass Shower

Glass Shower Enclosures

If you are looking to achieve a modern and clean look, adding a frameless glass shower enclosure is the way to go. A frameless glass shower enclosure provides an open and unobstructed feel, allowing you to show off your expensive tile work and lighting. We at Glacier know the many hours of thought and work went into the remodeling process, so why hide your work of beauty behind a curtain!

Preparing for your Glass Shower

You’ve envisioned your new bathroom, you’re excited, and ready to get to work. We understand that a new renovation project is exciting, but there are some choices that need to be made in order to prepare for your glass shower enclosure. We see it too often that a customer hasn’t taken the appropriate prep work, making it more difficult to bring their visualization to life. If you aren’t quite sure on the layout of your bathroom just quite yet, it is a wise idea to add reinforcement to your bathroom wall frame in the places you might be thinking you want your shower to be, in order to allow for the widest range of options. The glass panels of the shower carry some substantial weight and it is absolutely necessary that they have the proper support to anchor into behind the walls.

Talk to Us!

Our staff is more than happy to listen to your ideas! We want to point you in the right direction and let you know what is possibly. If you have a budget, we will try to work with you to give you different options to find something that achieves the appearance you desire while staying within your budget.

Reinforce Your Walls

Our frameless glass shower enclosures are constructed of heavy glass panels, which are held in place using minimal hardware, to achieve a timeless appearance. It is up to you to ensure these panels have the support they need, requiring the structural framing to be bulked up in the locations where the hardware is going to attach to the wall. If there is not proper framing, the structure will without a doubt fail.

An example of bulking up the framing would be adding a supportive 2 x 4 to the location where the hinges connect to the wall, ensuring a solid and stable installation. Any supports are best to be done at the start of your renovation process to create less hassle and mess down the road.

Choosing Your Glass

Glacier offers different glass options for your future shower enclosure. Whether you want clear glass, obscure glass, or a coated glass to deter staining and pitting. It is best to see a Glacier professional to walk you through the different glass options, as well as hardware options for your custom shower enclosure!
